What is 90daysgoal?
We are a group of individuals setting goals for ourselves within a certain time frame. We aren’t competing – everyone goes at their own pace and has their own goals. Basically, we are a group of people who support, encourage, and (hopefully!) motivate you to change.
How is this different than the Reddit Body Transformation Challenge?
The Reddit Body Transformation Challenge is a competition between users for the best looking transformations. 90DaysGoal is not a competition between you and other people; it’s a competition with yourself and your own will power. We are simply looking to change our lives for the better by creating goals, reaching our goals, and supporting others along the way. Also, there are no prizes at the end of the round.
Why should I join?
90daysgoal is not necessarily for everyone. Some people do better working on their own, without discussing their goals or progress with other people. However, for lots of people, 90days provides a way for you to commit to your goals publicly and get support, motivation, and feedback throughout your journey. If you’re frustrated with your lack of progress towards any goals, this is a great way to give yourself a hard deadline to achieve what you want to achieve. Fellow 90ers will push you and motivate you, as long as you keep coming back.
Do I have to follow a set diet?
Nope! You can follow whatever diet works best for you. If you don’t know what diets are available, the r/fitness FAQ has some good suggestions. There are also some tips on the Food and Diet page. If you have any questions about diets, we have resources and knowledgeable mods available to help you figure out where to start or what to try. Send us a mod mail and we’ll be happy to assist. You can also post your question at r/90daysgoal to get some feedback from people who have made progress or done those diets before.
Do I have to do a set exercise routine?
Nope! You can do whatever exercise routine you want. If you like to run, you can run. If you like to weight lift, then go pick up heavy weights. If you like yoga, dance, swimming, or anything else, feel free to do that. If you don’t know what you want to do, there are a lot of different exercise programs out there, like P90x, C25k, Starting Strength, New Rules of Lifting (both for men and women), and many more. Is this only for weight loss goals?
Not at all! While we tend to focus on weight loss and fitness as a group, 90ers set all kinds of goals for themselves. Some are aiming to gain or maintain weight, some are using the time to commit themselves to an exercise routine, and others are trying to quit smoking, make better grades, or try cooking for themselves. Your 90-day goals are whatever you make of them. Whatever you want to aim for we are more than happy to support and assist where we can.
How do I join?
Every round there is a signup form, which gathers our individual starting stats and goals. The most current signup form is posted on the sidebar at r/90daysgoal. If you would rather not fill out the signup form, you are still welcome to post your goals and progress and participate in any of the groups throughout the round.
The current round has already started. Can I still join?
Absolutely! The signup form can be filled out at any point during a round. Whenever you’re ready to get started, jump into the latest daily goal post and say Hi! Then work on setting some goals and start planning how you want to achieve them. We are more than happy to help you with this. We have resources and posts which can help in the process, so let us know if you need anything.
Do I have to fill out the signup form to participate?
Nope, you don’t have to fill out the signup form to participate. We’ll support and assist anyone who wants to better themselves. We do suggest it, though, as a good way to continue to track your impending success. 🙂
Why is each round longer than 90 days?
90daysgoal was originally 90 days straight, no breaks. However, we’ve found that it’s easy to get exhausted or overwhelmed if you push yourself hard for too long, without allowing for any recovery time. For this reason, we have since changed the format to have three shorter 1-month “sprints” with a week-long recovery period in between. This gives us each time to mentally and physically recharge for the next month. During the recovery period, you can reflect on your goals and accomplishments and plan for your next big push. You can continue to work out during the “rest days” if you want. There will still be daily goal posts and challenges during the breaks and it’s a good idea to not lose momentum.
What are “sprints”?
The sprints are short stints of time for you to focus on your goals. After each sprint we take some time to remotivate and assess our goals. Then we make any changes needed to our plans and continue working towards our goals. This process of setting a goal, working towards that goal, assessing progress, making any changes needed, then moving forward is a great way to work towards any goal. You are able to do what you want though! We’ve just structured our posts around this this track.
